Carbon Laser Toning
Laser toning, also known as Pico Second Q Switch ND:YAG or carbon laser toning or carbon laser peel is a minimally invasive, non-surgical, resurfacing procedure that addresses many skin issues, such as acne, uneven skin tone, dullness, oily skin, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, for minimizing deep pigmentation etc. Despite the name, it is not a traditional chemical peel but is a type of laser which helps in skin peeling and rejuvenation.
Pathophysiology
Collagen is the most abundant protein that provide structure, support and strength throughout the body. As we get older, our bodies make less of this protein, which can cause wrinkles and gradual loss of skin elasticity leading to skin sagging. The laser toning procedure enhances skin elasticity, tone and texture by plumping up the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and leaving the skin looking smoother, tighter, and more youthful. It typically requires a series of sessions, and maintenance treatments may be necessary to maintain the desired results.
Procedure For Treatment:
In this procedure, carbon solution is applied on to the skin surface and allowing it to penetrate deeply into the pores. As the solution dries up, it binds with the oil, dirt, and other impurities present on the skin surface. Then, the laser light is applied to the skin which warms the skin, and also breaks down the carbon particles, thus removing all the trapped impurities present on the surface of the skin, thus promoting the appearance of a brighter and lighter skin.
Also, since the laser toning involves the high-intensity laser beam with the right amount of heat, it helps in stimulating dermal collagen and elastin production.
